[Community] KubeCon NA attendance?
Hey all, One of the things we will talk about tomorrow in the Working Committee meeting (1500 UTC) is our plans for KubeCon North America in December, where Kata Containers will have a booth. We’ve tossed around ideas about office hours, live demos, etc., but it’d be helpful to get an idea of who is attending and who is interested in helping out with community activities like that. Who’s planning to be there? Cheers, Anne Bertucio OpenStack Foundation anne@openstack.org | irc: annabelleB
Hi, We'll be there, so that might open up some opportunities of showing things off on our infra (SJC1 has nested virt everywhere) Thanks Mohammed On Wed, Sep 19, 2018 at 12:43 PM Anne Bertucio <anne@openstack.org> wrote:

We will have an Intel booth at Kubecon. We have not selected which demos we will show but Kata would be a focus for this event. However, it would be strange to show the same or very similar demos in two different booths. We should coordinate. We should absolutely coordinate—there’s a Working Committee meeting tomorrow at 1500 UTC if you all want to join and we can chat. I think there’s a couple different areas to tackle with demos: 1) Security enhancements (the privilege escalation demo chats that have been spinning around) 2) The “Kata is simple to run” ie Eric Ernst’s demo from OpenStack Summit Vancouver (My contribution to that was making it hot pink with an IT Crowd gif, and I will concede both those additions for future use) 3) At Container Camp, a couple people pitched me on the idea of setting up Kata Containers for folks to attempt to break out of/play with, similar to Jessie’s contained.af <https://contained.af/>. With some recognition to Jessie for the original idea (Hi Jess!), might be a fun booth activity. Anne Bertucio OpenStack Foundation anne@openstack.org | irc: annabelleB

In the Kata booth, the focus of the content right now is helping folks understand containers security basics, and how Kata can be an added security layer to bolster your workload isolation. We’ll have a (fun!) security quiz that serves as an ice breaker for talking about why people should be thinking about what security layers they do (and don’t) have for their workloads and how Kata works. I also want to have a postcard that has quicklinks to the environment setup instructions by CSP* and private cloud. Essentially taking, “Neat I want to try this out!” to, “Who’s your cloud provider? Azure? Awesome, here’s the bitly for those docs. Go contain!” *At https://github.com/kata-containers/documentation/blob/master/install/README.... <https://github.com/kata-containers/documentation/blob/master/install/README.md> there is currently only distro and GCP directions. A good reminder to send a docs PR if your directions aren’t in here yet! Anne Bertucio OpenStack Foundation anne@openstack.org | irc: annabelleB

One of the things we will talk about tomorrow in the Working Committee meeting (1500 UTC) is our plans for KubeCon North America in December, where Kata Containers will have a booth.
We’ve tossed around ideas about office hours, live demos, etc., but it’d be helpful to get an idea of who is attending and who is interested in helping out with community activities like that. Who’s planning to be there?

Just started an etherpad to get a schedule going for those who are able to work a few hours at the Kata booth.
Go contain!”
*At https://github.com/kata-containers/documentation/blob/master/install/README.... <https://github.com/kata-containers/documentation/blob/master/install/README.md> there is currently only distro and GCP directions. A good reminder to send a docs PR if your directions aren’t in here yet!

I will be there too showing Kata demos at the Intel booth. I still want to coordinate demos and messaging so that we are complimentary to each other.

As people confirm their attendance, let me know--we’d love to have you make a cameo at the Kata booth, even if it’s only for a few hours. People love meeting the community members who are doing the work!
