Fabiano and I have been discussing these topics periodically just the two of us, but we wanted to take some time to reach out to you all and see if anyone was interested in joining our discussions. We are planning to meet next week Friday, Nov 19th at 17:30 UTC. If you are interested in participating, please reply to this thread so I can get you added to the invite!

Not only that, mentoring is a great way to bring new voices and ideas into a community and its equally rewarding for the mentor as it is for the mentee. Documentation gets improved, features and bugs are looked at from a new perspective, and I find that I get a charge of energy from interacting with students :)

We discussed this internally at Intel and we'd like to mentor one
group of students.

The tasks we have in mind are:
* https://github.com/kata-containers/kata-containers/issues/294
* https://github.com/kata-containers/kata-containers/issues/292
* https://github.com/kata-containers/kata-containers/issues/291
* https://github.com/kata-containers/kata-containers/issues/290
* https://github.com/kata-containers/kata-containers/issues/288
* https://github.com/kata-containers/kata-containers/issues/287
* https://github.com/kata-containers/kata-containers/issues/286
* https://github.com/kata-containers/kata-containers/issues/283
* https://github.com/kata-containers/kata-containers/issues/281
* https://github.com/kata-containers/kata-containers/issues/280
* https://github.com/kata-containers/kata-containers/issues/279
* https://github.com/kata-containers/kata-containers/issues/278
* https://github.com/kata-containers/kata-containers/issues/277
* https://github.com/kata-containers/kata-containers/issues/276

Each one of these issues cover one file, but we could actually split
the work into covering functions inside files in order to simplify
things.
Those would require the students to be familiar with rust. If they're
not, but they're familiar with go, we may have a few other places that
we could take a similar approach (such as kata-monitor?).

Out of curiosity, are those internship programs for students in which
year of college? :-)

Let's sync up next week about the idea, but I think that's good
material to start with.

Best Regards,
