Plan for organizing the kata issue backlog - updates 11th August 2020
Hi everyone. Today we have finished reviewing the first bucket of issues we targeted: - *issues opened this year which are not bugs and are labeled kata-2.0-features (45 open issues <https://github.com/issues?q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aopen+org%3Akata-containers+created%3A%3E2020-01-01+-label%3Abug+label%3Akata-2.0-features+-linked%3Apr+sort%3Arepository+>)* - We have removed all the *"needs-review"* labels from issues we looked at and also moved some issues to close or attached PRs (no need to review issues with PRs) - For issues we thought are mandatory for the kata 2.0 release (feature freeze end of the month) we added the *"release-gating"* label (the label that made most sense to us :-) ) - The updated list contains 3 issues <https://github.com/issues?q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aopen+org%3Akata-containers+created%3A%3E2020-01-01+-label%3Abug+label%3Akata-2.0-features+-linked%3Apr+label%3Arelease-gating+sort%3Arepository+> We now want to move to the next bucket of issues: - *Issues opened this year which are bugs (115 open issues <https://github.com/issues?q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aopen+org%3Akata-containers+created%3A%3E2020-01-01+label%3Abug+-linked%3Apr+sort%3Arepository+>)* - We'd appreciate if you could review these issue hopefully based on repositories related to you or topics related to you - Once you reviewed an issue remove the *"needs-info"* label - If you think it's not a valid issue close it - If you know of a PR related to the issue link it - If you think this issue is mandatory for the 2.0 release add the *"release-gating"* label - If you have any questions ping me or James - Target is to finish this bucket by next week We would really appreciate your help in moving this forward. Thanks.

Kudos to everyone who attended the backlog review meeting today and those who reviewed their issues offline. We cut down the current bucket from *111 issues* to 66 issues <https://github.com/issues?q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aopen+org%3Akata-containers+created%3A%3E2020-01-01+label%3Abug+-linked%3Apr+label%3Aneeds-review+sort%3Acreated-asc> . Appreciate if you could put some time to review the remaining issues so we can close this bucket by next week. Thanks. On Tue, Aug 18, 2020 at 4:46 PM Peng Tao <tao.peng@linux.alibaba.com> wrote:

Quick update on the issue backlog cleanup work. On today's call we continued focusing on the bucket of issues of type bugs opened this year with no attached PR that need review. We reduced the list from 70 to 55 issues <https://github.com/issues?q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aopen+org%3Akata-containers+created%3A%3E2020-01-01+label%3Abug+-linked%3Apr+label%3Aneeds-review+sort%3Acreated-asc> . We encourage you to take a look at the list and see if there are issues assigned to you no longer relevant or have PRs and update them accordingly. We will change the issue backlog meeting from bi-monthly to weekly to speed up the process. Kudos to everyone who joined the meeting today :-). Thanks.
