Clear Linux* OS announces Kata Containers to be set as default runtime
As previously announced, Kata Containers is available in any Clear Linux* OS version above 23380, and Clear Containers is scheduled to be deprecated.
As part of the Clear Containers deprecation, the default containers runtime will be set to be Kata Containers on August 21.
What should you do if you are already using Kata Containers?
No further action is required from you, since you already have the latest configuration in place.
What should you do if you are using Clear Containers?
Use the Migrate Clear Containers to Kata Containers* tutorial: https://clearlinux.org/documentation/clear-linux/tutorials/kata_migration to migrate to Kata Containers if you want to migrate immediately. From August 21, after the next Clear Linux OS update performed on your system (either manual or automated), Kata Containers runtime will be the default.
Although further Clear Containers usage is not recommended, you will temporarily be able to do so by manually re-configuring your system to point to cc-runtime as default runtime until it is removed on August 21th.
