kata setup instructions
Dell - Internal Use - Confidential Hi Kata-dev, I have a clear containers setup on Ubuntu which works fine and I am able spin clear containers with docker using cc engine. I am trying to setup kata containers on this? Is this the right approach? I am skimming through various git repos but can't find how to start off with Kata containers. Any pointers to how to get it going is very much appreciated. Thanks Surya N DELL-EMC - Ireland.
Hi Surya, It will be the right approach once we will have cc-runtime working with the Kata components. ETA for this is end of the current week, early next week. In other words, you're a little early :) We'll send an announcement to the list once this is working, with pointers to initial setup instructions. Cheers, Samuel. Hello Samuel, Sorry for asking some basic questions. I am trying to understand the architecture. Could not find a lot in the docs.
From the picture I am understanding that docker would talk to the kata shim and the runtime ( which has intel cc ) . So is my advantage using Kata is to have single pane type interface to all runtimes that kata supports to spin secure containers?

Hi Surya, So for now Kata supports both cc-runtime and runV, because we wanted the Kata community to be able to run the entire stack (with either one of the two runtimes) before we agree on the runtime codebase merge process and steps. But for sure we will merge those two runtimes into a single one, and the discussion to decide which one will be the base for that work are currently happening, see https://github.com/kata-containers/runtime/issues/31. Eventually Clear Containers will be deprecated in favor of Kata Containers. The deprecation period will probably start once we reach the 1.0 Kata Containers release. Please let us know if you need further details. Cheers, Samuel. On Thu, Feb 08, 2018 at 11:23:17AM +0000, Surya.Prabhakar@dell.com wrote:
