2026 H2 Kata Containers Architecture Committee elections - NOMINATION PERIOD OPEN
by Ildiko Vancsa 08 Oct '26

08 Oct '26

Hi Kata Containers community, On behalf of myself, Ildiko Vancsa (@ildikov), and Steve Horsman (@stevenhorsman), as the approved election officials, it's a pleasure to announce that the second Kata Containers Architecture Committee (AC) elections in 2026 have now started! There are three[1] AC seats up for election in this round. The window is now open for candidates to post their submissions, and will __remain open until October 09, 2026 14:59 UTC.__ The process to submit a nomination is as follows: 1) Review the responsibilities of the Architecture Committee members[2] 2) Between now and October 09th at 14:59 UTC, you can declare your candidacy for one of the open seats by submitting a text file with your name (please put your name as the file name), the reason for running, and your platform/objectives to this folder[3]. Who can vote: Anyone who has had a commit merged into the project in the last 12 months will be eligible to vote. All eligible voters will receive an email with a link to the voting system once the voting period opens. Debate period: Note that once candidacy entry has closed and we enter the debate period, we will be openly asking the candidates some questions around their candidacy. The community is encouraged to submit questions via the election officials which then will be posted on the GH discussion board[4] - get your thinking caps on now in preparation... we shall then filter, review, and choose a set of suitable questions for the candidates. More details of the election process are outlined at [5]. Please let us know if you have any questions about running for a seat or the election process! Join the Kata Vulnerability Management Team!
by Aurelien Bombo 01 Sep '26

01 Sep '26

Hi all, The Kata Containers Architecture Committee is looking for volunteers to join the newly-formed Vulnerability Management Team (VMT). The VMT supports the security posture of the project by coordinating the intake, triage, and timely remediation of security reports. Importantly, VMT members act as coordinators; they are NOT fix developers. You can check the full VMT charter at [1]. VMT members are approved by AC vote and are appointed for 6 months, with no limit on the number of appointments. New volunteers would join the below existing VMT members and be supported by the AC: * Markus Rudy (@burgerdev), Edgeless Systems * Sumedh Alok Sharma (@Sumynwa), Microsoft [1] https://github.com/kata-containers/community/blob/main/VMT/VMT-charter.md If you'd like to join, please reach out to myself or any other AC member via email or Slack.
