[kata-dev] Kata and Minikube - status update and call for help

Hi,

Recently Archana and I worked out why Kata under Minikube stopped working around kata v1.6.2 (because we enabled tcfilter networking as the default), and Archana has landed the fix into Minikube... (kernel config updates). Minikube's next release will contain the fix, and should come out sometime after the k8s v1.15 release.

We also discovered the Minikube folks had listed Kata support as a desire for 2019 (but, we didn't know!). Discussing with them, and looking at how gvisor is supported in Minikube, it looks like we should be able to leverage much of our kata-deploy to support/install Kata into minikube as a first class citizen.

The Minikube folks opened an Issue to track:
https://github.com/kubernetes/minikube/issues/4347

Anybody want to help out and make this a reality? Since we first found Kata worked under Minikube we have seen a steady stream of users taking this as a first entrée/launching pad for Kata. I myself find it very useful as a quick small local k8s testbed.

Graham
